Principal Keyboard of Hong Kong Sinfonietta



Principal Keyboard of Hong Kong Sinfonietta since 2011 and Chairman of the International Association of Collaborative Musicians, Mr. Alan Chu has collaborated with Hungarian Symphony Orchestra, King’s College Choir Cambridge, H.K. New Music Ensemble, H.K. City Contemporary Company, H.K. Symphonia, H.K. Virtuosi, among others. He obtained Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees with first-class honours from The Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music respectively, and was trained as an Erasmus scholar at the Cologne University of Music. Formerly a senior lecturer and music programme leader at The Open University of Hong Kong, he currently teaches at multiple tertiary institutions (CUHK, HKBU, EdUHK, HKUSPACE) from postgraduate to sub-degree levels. He holds advisory and examiner roles with Trinity College London, Hong Kong Arts Development Council, Hong Kong Society for Art and Charity, etc., and is highly sought-after as a regular juror for regional and international music competitions. He was conferred Associateship by the Royal Academy of Music in 2017, and was subsequently elected Fellow by the Royal Society of Arts in 2021.
